How can we make the biggest sustainable impact? This question led to the launch of Seaweedland in 2022 by Sven Rusticus, an engineer from Delft University and digital media entrepreneur. Working with his friend and pharmaceutical entrepreneur Anko Kuil, a strategy was developed to build the most sustainable and innovative seaweed production facility possible.

Land-based agriculture, especially in horticulture, has undergone remarkable advancements. Techniques for cultivating fruits and vegetables have been revolutionized by automation, precision farming and scalable production methods. These innovations provide a blueprint for what’s possible in seaweed cultivation.

By adopting a technical and innovative perspective, we aim to bridge this gap. Applying technology to seaweed farming can unlock its potential, making it a key player in sustainable industries.
