Our mission
How can we make the biggest sustainable impact? This question led is to seaweed and the launch of Seaweedland in 2022 by Sven Rusticus, an engineer from Delft University and entrepreneur in digital media.
Together with friend and pharmaceutical entrepreneur Anko Kuil, they developed a strategy to build the most sustainable seaweed production facility, on land.
Seaweed cultivation on sea is problematic due to contamination by shell fish, heavy metals, seasonality and limited maritime space. Therefore we developed a technology for on-land cultivation, to cultivate consistent quality seaweed, with reliable supply, traceable and with high food safety. Our technology offers full control of our cultivation process, resulting in optimal quality, high yield and a predictable supply of seaweed.
