An exciting new collaboration to bring land-cultivated seaweed to Dutch restaurants and food professionals.
Seaweedland is proud to announce its partnership with Rungis, the leading supplier of premium fruit and vegetables to restaurants and food professionals throughout the Netherlands.
This collaboration marks an important step forward in making sustainable, land-cultivated seaweed more widely accessible to chefs and, through them, to guests at their restaurants.
“We’ve been admiring Rungis for years for their impeccable focus on quality and innovation in the sustainable food industry. That’s why we’re truly honoured to join forces with them,” says the Seaweedland team.
Starting October 29th, two of Seaweedland’s signature varieties, Ulva and Dulse, will be available directly via Rungis.

The love for high-quality produce runs deep in Rungis’ history, starting with its founder Gert Jan Zonneveld Piek. At just 18 years old, he opened his first vegetable kiosk in Krimpen aan de Lek, and it didn’t take long for restaurants to notice his passion for discovering new and exciting flavours of the highest quality.
Over the years, Rungis became a household name in the Dutch hospitality industry, taking its name from Rungis Market in Paris, the second largest wholesale food market in the world.
Today, Rungis employs more than 200 people and delivers premium fruit and vegetables to chefs and restaurants across the Netherlands, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The company continues to innovate and expand its offering, with a strong focus on quality and sustainability. Rungis is also known for its dedication to forgotten vegetables, unique, traditional varieties that deserve a place back on the plate.
Rungis
Rungis has earned its reputation as a trusted partner for chefs who demand the very best ingredients: fresh, traceable, and full of flavour.
Seaweedland shares that same commitment to quality and sustainability. By cultivating seaweed on land in a controlled system, Seaweedland ensures 100% clean, contaminant-free, and consistent production year-round.
This innovation eliminates the unpredictability of ocean harvests while protecting marine ecosystems. On top of that it requires no freshwater, a significant advantage in a world facing increasing water scarcity.
Together, Rungis and Seaweedland make it easier than ever for chefs to work with clean, high-quality seaweed grown responsibly, right here in the Netherlands.
